Help Help with Verizon note 4 charging issues...

OK let me start off by saying I'm a pretty tech savy guy,but this issue Is puzzling me beyond belief. I'm hoping someone here can give me some helpful advice.

The issue started about 2 days ago with both mine and my wife's galaxy note 4. When I plug the adaptive fast charger into the phone it no longer fast charges. I noticed that the notification that pops up at the top letting me know my fast charger was plugged in no longer showed up. When I go into settings /battery it shows "usb" instead of "AC".and it charged god awfully slow.

What I've tried so far is...

1 ( tried switchin out plugs/usb cables to no avail )

2 (tried several different combinations of unchecking the fast charging setting, restarting the phone, and then turning it back on and reactivation the fast charge.

3) turNing off fast charging all together

4) factory reset

5) pulling the battery as well as switchin out batteries for new .

6) switchING outlets and also trying outlets at different addresses lol.

That's all I can think of. Now usually at this point I would Lean more towards a "hardware " related issue, but seeing as this exact problem began happening at the exact same time on both mine aND my wife's phones I'm thinking Verizon may have released some faulty security update that did sometHong to our phones. I called Verizon and they claimed no updates have been issued since August so I don't know.

Anyone else having this issue? I would be surprised if this exact hardware failure occured at the same time on mine and my wife's note 4.

Hi,

Do you happen to have a 5v 1A+ charger lying around somewhere (i.e. an old style non fast charger)? If you plug this into the phone do you see reasonable charging behaviour or does the same issue appear?

I have never used the fast charger that came with the phone for two reasons. 1. I have regular chargers all over my house, car and work. 2. They charge fast enough for me. In fact I have had no charging problems for the year that I have had the phone.

You are the third person, that I remember, that has reported this problem here and therefore this is the third time I have asked these questions. So, either this will not work (because it was a stupid idea), or the problem went away and the OPs didn't say so. Let's see how you get on ;)

It may be that the fast charger damages some phones, but I am speculating here. One other thought: You say both phones "broke" at the same time. Was that the exact same time? Were they both charging together? I ask because of the potential for a power surge which may have damaged both phones simultaneously. Wild guessing here though.

Regards,
Eric.

I have a Note 4, and installed a Qi wireless charger in it....

IF, it is out of the protective case, it will charge.... but inside the case, the charger light blinks and goes away ONCE>

then, it seems like the phone knows that charger, and it will never, ever, again work on that particular Qi charger pad.

My phone worked great until the Verizon update hit it. just one voice, and no solution.

I have an update, the problem with my Note 4 and Qi charging was the "Placement" of the phone on the Qi pad.

I did not originally think about the fact that the location of the Qi receiver coil is NOT in the center of the phone, it is to the Left Side of the phone as viewed from the front.

It is now charging just fine on the Qi pad that I have used for the S5s in the past.

Here is a pix of me "discovering" that it was "off center" previously when I just casually dropped the phone on the table and it "just happened" to land across the Qi pad at an angle... A Blue Light? wow, it is charging, leave it alone!!!

UPDATE #2

Once I got used to "where the coil is", the Qi charger now activates immediately regardless of what Qi charger pad I lay it on.... I am a Happy Camper now with my Note 4 and Qi charger combo.

Normally, I only use the Qi charger, but right now, I need to "hit and run" and stuck it on the a/c charger cord for a fast "git up an go" charge....

I have "Battery Monitor" installed which does nothing except Monitor Battery Status:

I just looked at it, and thought some might like to see how a typical Note 4 compares with their own.
I have had Very Good Battery Life with mine, and I relate that to always recharging at 40% or higher numbers.
ie, if I'm not using the phone, I lay it on the wireless charger pad..... let it slow charge to 100% and it beeps, I take it off charge.

here is a Screenshot of the last 31 Days use.
