I have an Android LG C800G that, until a couple of months ago, had no problems; I was getting lots of battery life because I rarely use the phone, I could leave it off the charger for days, and all was well. Then Google Services updated all sorts of crap on my phone.
When I first noticed the battery drain, I didn't think anything of Google. The first thing I did was check battery saving tips and try to uninstall Facebook (which is built-in on my phone and actually CANNOT be uninstalled completely). I verified that Bluetooth was off, I tried disabling Wifi, and other things (Wifi is since back on), but nothing worked to recover the lost daily drain. During this time, I noticed a couple of times that I got a normal 3-4 day time out of the battery, but usually when I went away after taking the phone off the charger (going right back to battery drain after the next recharge).
The next thing I noticed was Gallery hiding out in the active applications, claiming to take 53% of my battery. I couldn't change any settings to keep it from running and even force-quit it once in the applications manger, which did nothing as it continued to "run" even though it wasn't actually running. Eventually, I checked other phone settings and managed to turn that off. The battery drain continued but Gallery was no longer the problem according to the phone.
I finally downloaded GSam Battery Monitor to tell me exactly what was going on. Finally, I found the culprit: Youtube. Which I don't even use, but again is apparently built-in and cannot be removed. On the last charge (which wasn't a full charge, 86% when I accidentally unplugged it, but I left it be), Youtube claimed to suck 49.7% of my battery. Here's the kicker: my phone was AWAKE during the entire time, and was during the Gallery problem as well. The wakelock that is the problem is apparently com.google.android.youtube. I'm trying to figure out exactly what setting I need to change to shut this off, which apparently keeps my Wifi Radio active. Another thing I don't use. I even dialed *#*#4636#*#* and disabled Wifi Radio, but guess what: Youtube is still sucking it.
So how do I turn it off and end this Android nightmare?
