Hello everyone. I have a Samsung galaxy s6 SM-G920P running 7.0 android version. I have a couple of questions. First off, I noticed the pegman is gone in Google Maps and want it back. I read online I could download the APK version. I went ahead and disabled the pre-installed Google maps and downloaded the APK app. When I went to open it, it brought up the pre-installed app. I did research and saw I could unlock the bootloader which then I can uninstall the pre-installed Google maps. Is that possible? My other question how do I get full access to my phone (like root) but without rooting the device?

To answer the second question first, you can't get root access without rooting. And unlocking the bootloader will do nothing by itself, that's only useful as a prelude to rooting (it allows you to flash a custom recovery).

As for the first question, if you mean the little yellow figure that Google used to use for Street View several years ago, well that was several years ago. But if you press and hold a point on the map until you see the red "dropped pin" icon appear you should get a little window for street view - just touch that and you get the full-screen street view. The functionality is still there, just the interface has changed.

As for trying to install an old version, which apk version did you install? It would need to be quite old to get that icon back. Also where did you download it from? There are safe sites, such as apkmirror, but a lot of apk download sites are not safe as well.
