Help hey whats up with the extra button on the inside of my nexus7?

I'm confused. When you say inside is this inside the OPENED case? No extra buttons on my N7. Post a picture please.

Guess they're referring to it opened as there is indeed an extra button. I presume it may have originally been a camera button from the original Asus Tablet before google picked it up?

This video sums it up well. Skip to 2:30 if the link doesn't take you there.

I'd wager that it is a leftover from before this tablet became the nexus 7. Originally it was going to be just another asus tablet, and there are some other telltale signs of this hidden inside the case, if I recall correctly.

It is inside the opened case. You can actually see where it is on the outside, though - immediately under the volume down button, you'll see a dimple in the leather that's not quite the same as the ones around it.

While the smartass response is, indeed, "it's a reset button" - A) that may not be the case (since it's not exposed, they may be using a silkscreen on the PCB that was used for multiple devices), B) it may not be active, and C) we don't really know what "reset" means. It could be a reset button like on a PC, that reboots the device. It could be a way to launch, say, a factory reset from the bootloader. It could be something you hold down when booting to enter a certain boot mode...

Without testing it out, we don't know. If you've got the back off your device, give it a try ;)

My broken screen N7 is listed on ebay right now with bids on it or I'd open it up and give the button a try. I don't want to risk causing any further damage to it though as it's effectively sold. I doubt the buyer would appreciate me experimenting on it. ;)

Another one of my tablets has a hole in the case to insert a paper clip wire to reset it and when it was behaving badly ... running super slow, I pressed it and it rebooted running normal speed again. Looks like if it is a reset there needs to a hole drilled in the case to get to it.
