I have a Samsung i896 Galaxy S. This is the Canadian version of what in the States is the ATT Captivate i897. I'm running Cyanogen. Next project will hopefully be to install Ice Cream Sandwich.
My phone was stock Froyo with the 3e recovery. So I couldn't use Clockwork recovery and I couldn't replace it. So I downgraded to Eclair. In the process something went wrong and I had to make a USB jig to get out of a boot loop. Finally I got it back up and running.
I couldn't get Miui to run, but Cyanogen seems pretty good. That said I thinking of going back to stock if only so I can run Guardian Bob's Keep the Lights On (needs root, but doesn't work with Cyanogen). After six months of owning this phone I still have trouble using those four teeny buttons when using the phone as a satnav in a car at night.
