"Hi Galaxy" not working

in2bashun

Newbie
Is anyone else having this problem with the Samsung Galaxy s5? From the home screen, when I say "Hi Galaxy", nothing happens. Ive checked the settings under S Voice a dozen times, all seems to be configured correctly. Any suggestions?

You need to go into the SVoice settings and tap Voice Wake up to record the wake up phrase. It's confusing because it looks like it's on by default.

If you want to use Google Now voice search, just put the Google Search widget on the home screen. It will listen for the "OK Google" phrase whenever the home screen is displayed.

Where can I find the Google Search widget? It was originally on the home screen, but disappeared at some point - indeed the same point the OK Google command went away. I've searched the apps, but couldn't find any such thing.

Long press a blank spot on your home screen. Then, on the next screen, select the "Widgets" icon on the bottom. That will let you scroll through various widgets to select on to add to the screen.

That said, I don't have the widget on the home screen. I just have the blue "Google" app icon. My "Hi Galaxy" is working fine.

Thank you!!! That was it. Sorry I'm so ignorant of these things. Had no idea how to access the widgets. On my previous phone (a Razzr Max) I could access widget from the Applications screen.

Fantastic! OK Google works just fine, again.

I have an ATT Galaxy S5 SM G900A. I can say "OK Google" from home screen and it will open Google Speak, but cannot wake up S-Voice by saying "Hi Galaxy". Is this the way my phone should work?
I think "Hi Galaxy" worked when I got my phone (about three weeks ago).
I have followed instructions for setting up S-Voice.

You can also Hold Down the center Menu Button (Fingerprint scanner) and Google Search comes up there.

Say 'OK Google'

Ask it anything

When I tap the center button twice S-VOICE opens, which is what I want to happen when I say HI GALAXY instead of OK Google.

hi galaxy, and ok google do NOT work with nova launcher.. just fyi. ok google works if you touch the google search widget in nova.. but thats it..

Hello , i found easy solution to all yours problems. From home page where google widget is open Say: Ok Google then Say Open S voice , Thank You < have a nice day

devilrobert21. Thank you. The work a-around works. Now, how to get s-voice to activate on "Hi Galaxy" or, as I did, with a changed word. And, yes, "Hi Galaxy" stopped working before I changed the phrase. Nothing seems to start s-voice except the work-around. Inside of s-voice, my new passphrase works well.

Go to language and input in Controls tab>voice input>change voice recognition services to Samsung powered by Vlingo. Hit the gears on right and check wake up command. I think it changed it to Enhanced Google services after the 5.0 update.
