hi im new and i have a rooted phone issue?

i love andriod and have only heard of rooted phones but i broke mine and sumone had one at the right price. its awesome even though i cant use it.

btw my names robert and here is my problem. im an idiot on the rooted subject all i know is i have a phone and its a htc evo 4g powered my mik.

I tried to activate this phone and i was told u cant while its rooted but i seen where ppl can do it. well my question is how? thanx!

btw i read other posts but i dont understand them thanx!
