Hi, noob with Samsung Note with Questions???

Hi, I am new with Android and I have just recently purchase the Samsung Note.

I am very very happy with the phone, really adores it.

But I do have questions that I hope you all can assist.

How can I streamlined the contacts, that when I want to send out just an SMS, that it will not show up all my contacts with the mobile, email addresses etc.and I have to choose the right contact otherwise it might be sending out an email while I want to send as an SMS.

Appreciate all your guidance and assistance.
