Hidden features of S4. Looking for a specific

I don't know why it turned itself off, but I'd love to get this feature back. When in sleep mode, if the phone's on a flat surface, you could wave your hand over top of it, a blue light would appear and would show you the time and other notifications without having to wake your phone up. I have the KitKat OS. Would someone be able to please tell me how I can get this back? I found a site once that told you of the hidden features but I can't seem to find it again and that's where I learned of this cool feature in the first place.
