Help Hide apps with a password without root or homescreen app

Basically I want a password protected app that hides other apps, I also want to be able to run those apps from that password protected app. The only way could think of this being possible is the dialer thing where you type # and the number registered to the app in the dialer and rather than making a call it launches the app. But I don't know how to do that. (I am a programmer.)

They only way to hide apps is by having root access.
