Hide contact from googoo on cricket icon

Rgarner

I want to put some contacts on the new phone but I don"t want googoo knowing about it. How do I do that? This thing is loaded with their crap, but I"ve downloaded duckduckgo and Firefox.

How do I disable that voice thing? It comes up sometimes when I'm trying to search for something, even on here. It seems to be random.

Is this some kind of revenge thing? I had to type this from the S5 because the Cricket crap keeps shoving that fake microphone at me. I'm getting really tired of this. I tried looking up how to get rid of it, but I guess it must be for older versions. I think this thing has android 9.

What phone did you get? :)

If you open the Google app, then on the bottom right Tap on . . More
then Settings
then Voice
- Voice Match and turn
Hey Google off.
or you can also go to Google Assistant above the Voice setting then Assistant
or turn Assistant completely Off in Voice settings.

That's what I found today on mine.

It's a cricket icon, better known, apparently, as the at&t radiant u304aa. Alas, it is neither iconic nor radiant. It's pretty much the basic pos I was barely able to scrape together the money for (about $100). I disabled pretty much all the (goo) goo I could find on it and now it's shoving this voice thing at me, even when I'm just trying to type here. That's why I'm posting this from my S5, which is looking better by the moment. I can't find an app that's just them, only play store, play music, etc.. I even put chrome back on, with notifications, in hopes that would help me muffle the thing, but no luck. Also, I checked under settings and found it seems to be on permanently as some kind of "keyboard".

^ LMAO

I can't help you on that speech thing, sorry, without seeing it.
I looked at the "Manual" that you would have, but there's no Settings shots.
I know you are in the sticks but a call, Chat or a visit to AT&T or Cricket if no one here knows.

I'm glad you enjoyed my little joke. I CANNOT GET RID OF THIS THING. I've practically got a giant squid stuck to my face. It shows up where it should not and blocks me from asking questions on AF, and even doing searches with Duckduckgo on Firefox. HOW DO I KILL IT?!

I just took a screenshot of that horrible thing on the icon. There was a thing that said share. I chose that and supposedly uploaded it to photos, but I can't find it. What does this annoying nuisance do with screenshots and how do I find them? How do I make sure that they do go to photos? I probably still have a snowball's chance of sending it to you.

Wow, it actually worked. Of course I wanted to put these words in the same post with them, but I guess this "Android expert" is too dumb to know how. The X at the upper right is apparently broken, and the settings cog just leads to something useless that doesn't show how to lose it. Am I just going to have to throw away this phone?

I was hoping maybe it had something to do with its being on too long. This morning I shut it off and then switched it back on, but it didn't help. That horrible monster is still there. Yup, I'm typing this from the S5. PLEASE there's got to be a way to slay this dragon.

It was 2 am here when I saw your last post.
The figure in the bottom right I know.
Give me a second

If Accessibility Menu is turned on, that man symbol will appear.
I don't know what it's like on yours.

You may have a software issue but can you press the "man" to bring up large buttons.
Turn Accessibility Menu off if you can find it.

Sure enough, I found magnification by button was on in accessibility (settings). When I switched that off, the little man disappeared. However, that seems to have had no effect on the creature from hell. Maybe I'll have to call cricket and try to deal with their "customer service". Wish me luck...I'm going to need it.

It turns out this gboard, short for googoo keyboard, maybe, was disabled. When it was reenabled, the microphone didn't disappear, but at least the X to get rid of it started working, along with the (bad) keyboard. Maybe I can convince him to download a better one.
