Ho do I stop Whatsapp reading messages aloud

I have a Huawei P20 Pro
When I get a Whatsapp message it is read out aloud by the phone.
Can anyone tell me hoe to stop this happenin or what feature on the phone enable this.

The simplest solution will be just to turn down the phone's volume.

Check your accessibility settings to see whether you've turned something on? I'm not aware of any such setting within WhatsApp itself, so does this happen with any other apps? And does your phone think it's connected to a car (car modes often include reading messages)?

I'm just guessing here, as I've not heard this particular problem before.

(Not familiar with Whatsapp either), I was only shooting in the dark.

WhatsApp does not have the ability to read your messages out loud (or quietly) at all, unless they are voice messages.

This is a phone setting. Check Settings > Accessibility > Talk back.
