Hoccer: "Throw" files and data to others.

Has anyone heard of this app? I believe it is a featured app in the marketplace now. It's a gesture based app to quickly share and receive files with people nearby, wherein you pretend to "throw" the phone like a frisbee, and people nearby can quickly raise up their phone and "catch" the thing(s) you sent.

I thought it was a neat and fun idea. Anyone try it out yet?

I saw it as well. I wonder how well it works as I have 4 of my coworkers that have moto droids and would be great to move files between.

I was wondering, several of my co-workers also have android devices, did anyone ever figure out what this app was called?

Edit: Nevermind I answered my own question.... Durr...

I take it this app will only work with Android 2.1 ? My hero is atillon 1.6 and every app i've looked at says to use bluetooth it needs 2.1

So likne many others I'm waiting for HTC to get their fingers out and release 2.1 I would even forego Sense as I never use the multiple screens anyway

This app doesn't use bluetooth. It uses either GPS or Wireless location. I've got a G1, and this app works fine.

It uses the local network. I've been using it for a while, it works nicely and I haven't accidently thrown my phone at someone (yet!).

tried using the app. on my Samsung Spica to send a .jpg to an iphone with Hoccer installed on both phones via my home wi-fi network but failed..any tips to get it working? do i need to change some settings on my router or handset?

It should just work if you are both in the same sub-net which you should be if you are both accessing the same wireless router. It takes a bit of practice to get the 'catch' gesture right though.

Works fine, installed it on my wife's and my droid this past weekend,
we threw a few things back and forth with no issues although my wife needs to learn to catch better haha.. wish I knew more people with cool phones so I could throw things at them :)

installed in on my droid and gf's eris and it works great. im not sure exactly what she would need to "throw" to me yet, but if the need every arises we are prepared! haha

guess it's just me then...did practice a lot to get it right...my i5700 does throw the file and iPhone tries to catch but "searching for partner" fails :( ...guess will have to get hold of another android phone and check it out....thanks for the reply

I've used this program a few times. Neat idea. A bit slower than even bluetooth filesharing on my blackberry. However, it's much more entertaining than hoccer.
