Home, Menu, back and search buttons on HTC sensational Xl stopped working

[Android Question]

Home, menu, back and search keys were working perfectly fine, moments ago. After hitting the back keep to exit an app I noticed that it didn't respond , so i tried the other keys and the same result. Can anyone provide an explanation as to why this happened or any solutions to remedy the problem.

I've done a soft technical troubleshoot of the problem:
Restart - problem still exists

Turn off phone, remove battery, install battery, turn on phone - problem still exists.

A hardware problem like not solved with a battery pull sounds bad. If you're comfortable with the procedure you could try a factory reset to see if it repairs the problem. Just be aware when you do that you lose all data not on your SD Card or internal memory. It will be like the day you bought it.

Failing that I would take it back to where you purchased it.
