Home network wired and wireless?

Hello

I use a computer that uses a wired internet connection (LAN cable into a Belkin G wireless modem router) and i would like to be able to connect my android phone (SGS 2, when i get it) to the same router wirelessly, BUT i need the computer to still use a wired connection. (Computer and router not my own, so cannot change how computer accesses router) So i need the computer to access the internet wired to the router, but the SGS 2 via a wireless connection using the same router. How can i do this please? I'm not very technical when it comes to how computers work :o
I've been googling for over an hour now, but i'm struggling to find the info i need.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Nema problema (no problem).
You just need to enable wireless network on the router, or if it's enabled already, ask for the wireless password (WEP or WPA key), eventually for the SSID (if SID network name population is disabled), or add you phone to whitelist (if the router has whitelist for allowed devices defined).
For this you'll need username and password to access the router. Ask the owner, or try to access default router address in web browser (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1), password is on the network indentification card provided with the router (probably sticked on the router bottom side).
The router web interface should be pretty user friendly to configure, eventually you can download router user's guide on Belkin: Wireless Routers, iPod accessories, iPad cases, energy saving devices. and check this.

Simply put, if you already have the routers wifi enabled. then you just set up the SGS2 to connect to the routers wifi with the right settings. so on your SGS2, turn wifi on select the SSID (wifi ID of your router) and put your wifi password in, and it should be job done.

Thanks for the above replys guys. I haven't got wifi configured on it yet, but thats what i'm hoping to do. Will using the wifi connection for my phone affect the safety and security of the computer's wired connection to the router? I dont want the wifi to be available to anyone walking past on the street, if you get me, and i also don't want anybody to be able to hack into the pc via the wireless connection between my phone and the router.

Thanks again

Ian

Just don't use WEP. It's no longer safe. Can be cracked in 10 minutes. You can go with WPA2 and use a strong password. Then you can be safe. And if you are paranoid about security, turn it off when not using it!

When you set up wifi on your router, make sure encrytion is enabled and setup with strong password. As long as your connection is encrypted, no one can gain access to your wifi connection without the password.
