How's the S3's built in speakers/speaker phone? The iPhone 4S has very good quality (for what they are) and loud speakers and i found the i9100's (international sgs2) inadequite.
From my limited experience (floor sample tests) I would say the volume of both is comparable. The quality of the iphone 4s is superior though. You can hear some distortion on higher volume on the sgs3. The iphone's has a "richer" sound.
Remember the galaxy nexus was horrible. It was so low I had trouble hearing so it is actually a great improvement from that phone.
