How can I active the remote location ?

Hello ! Does anyone know how to activate the remote location? Suppose a lost or stolen cell on which we did not have then activated the location, is there a way to do it remotely ? Maybe an app.. ?

I think it's problematic ... until now the solutions to recover lost cell assume that the location has already been activated and that the thief does not turn it off !

keeps track of your phone. I also run Android Lost, so I can send the phone a text to turn the camera on, give me it's location and a few other things.

Of course if the thief changes the ROM, or changes the SIM card, you're pretty much out of luck, other than reporting the phone stolen (to the carrier) so it can't be used.

Chances are that you may already have the Android Device Manager service enabled and running on the device. See if you can find it at https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager

I tried it and all things considered, nice function.... but it "lies" ;) My phone is sitting beside me and it's off. The software reports it as online. Not. It also doesn't know where it is and also doesn't correctly report the last used date. I turned it off last night about 9:00pm EDT. (4/2/14)

So, I turned it on and tried again

Now, it's reporting:

LGL39C

Last located at 9:29 AM
**********, NY, USA - Accurate to 23 meters

Last used March 30, 2014

The *'s are actually the area that I live and it's showing on the map. "Last used" is still hosed.

I have data turned off and am only connected via my home WiFi network and it still "found" me within a reasonable distance.
Edit: I also have GPS turned off.

So I hit the "ring" function on the web site and sure enough - my phone started ringing. Needless to say I didn't use the "lock" or "erase" functions. :D
