I have a Samsung Mega 6.3 and it currently has Android OS version 4.4.2. When I select to update it I'm told that my OS is already up to date. But I know the newest version is 7.1.
4.4.2 (KitKat) was as high as official OS updates released by Samsung went for the Samsung Mega 6.3. I did a quick search and found some unofficial updates to (Lollipop) but they are not endorsed by Samsung or Google. It's crazy complicated to upgrade past what Samsung or Google wants you to have.
Start over at xda-devlopers to find out about installing custom ROM's but I warn you before hand register as a user and read all their rules before you post anything there.
Swammy how do you know you can update your phone to nougat? Because neither @dontpanicbobby nor I have been seen a website where it mentions that your phone is upgradable to nougat.
Official software support from any manufacturer usually last 2 years from release date. The Mega was released in 2013.
If you want to update past 4.4.2, you will have to go custom if phone is popular enough to have a developer support.
