How can I power off without using the power button?

There are lots of instances where I want to power off the phone from the screen without holding down the power button. Is there any way for me to turn off my phone directly from the screen? Is it possible to create a home screen shortcut to do this more quickly? I have an LG V10, but tbh, I'd be interested in knowing how to do this from any phone.

Just tap the screen twice on a blank area. Same to turn it back on.

To clarify, I want to completely turn the phone off, not just sleep or turn off the screen.
