Help How Can I Un-brick My Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0?

I was trying to upgrade a Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 - YP-G70CW/XEU (Samsung Galaxy Player) from Froyo to Gingerbread using Odin on Win 7. While in download mode I plugged in the USB cable & Windows made a "ding" sound but showed no sign of loading the drivers. The Galaxy showed up in Windows Device Manager & was listed as working properly, I ran the upgrade anyway but it failed so I closed Odin & un-plugged the USB cable from the Galaxy, it now shows an image of the device on the left & PC on the right with a yellow triangle enclosing an exclamation mark in the middle (see image) this state has been described as a "soft brick".

How can I "un-brick" the device to Froyo & where can I find the correct files to use? My location is UK/Europe.
