I believe that option was removed from more recent versions of Android. Used to work back in the Gingerbread (2.x) days but was removed sometime since.
If you go to the section of this forum for your phone then look in the rooting section, you may find someone has a fix that will allow it.
"stock" applications (the applications that came with the phone from your provider) generally cannot be moved or deleted.
Many applications that you download from the play store can be moved to the SD card.
Go to Settings-->Application Manager. Select the application from the list. If it can be moved to the SD card, you will have a button option for "move to SD card".
