Help how can we change chrome new tab icons/shortcuts? and homepage?

I have latest chrome on my Tab S2

1. but I can not change / add a homepage .. like I can on my Note 3

2. when we open a new tab - how can we change the starting icons? I only see for a way to remove them if I long press it ..

3. and I guess if u r not rooted u still can not change the search engine

please advise ..

Unfortunately, I don't think you can customize which links are on the new tab page in chrome for Android. Google fills them in for you based on where it thinks you might go next. If you don't see the option you want there, press "recent" or "bookmarks" at the bottom of the screen.

I agree with you, it would be more logical to let the user identify which links are there for a quick launch option.
