How come all IM apps kill the battery but Google's doesn't?

Are there any IM clients that use push like Google Talk does? I tried eBuddy and Beejive beta and they both kill my battery. Is Trillian any better?

Thanks

i just bought a laptop the other day and didnt ahve an IM client loaded on my phone allw eekend and i got over 24 hours on a charge. who knew it was my IM app draining my battery the whole time.

beejive is hell on the battery... I use it while im at work since I have a charger but when im out and about I cut it off

Yeah I just don't know what Google does different in their Talk app. How come other companies haven't done something similar?

You do know that when using eBuddy your battery life will increase if you go into settings and click the "extend battery life" option. This may delay a message UP TO 15 minutes because it isn't constantly polling. I've noticed increased battery life with all the ROMs I have tried it on and the chats are instant. Give it a try.. if it doesn't work for you then try something else.
