Welcome to the Android Forums.

You can add reminders to your phone using the Calendar. You can click the app drawer and choose the calendar app or put a calendar widget on your home screen. You can also log into google calendar using the account that sync's with the phone and any events you add there will show up on the phone.

To download to the phone, plug the phone in using the USB cable and choose "Turn on USB storage". If that message doesn't pop up when you plug in the phone, then pull down the notification bar and click on the notice that says USB connected.
