Help How do I disable access to phone storage from computer?

Heretikos

Lurker
Usually, there's simple options to turn on or off, or sometimes the phone has to be unlocked to access the internal phone storage and the SD Card in the phone. However, my HTC Desire 626s running Android 5.1 will just allow access to all it's files just by simply plugging into a computer via USB. Sorry if my wording isn't right, but you see what I'm saying? There's literally no options to prevent this. What's the point of Encrypting everything if someone can simple just plug in my device and access all my files?

So you're able access all the phone's data with a computer when it's locked? I would have said, that's a serious fault and a real security risk with this particular phone. Because usually that should just not happen. It might be worth you informing HTC about it, finding a security vulnerability like that.

This is what should happen when you connect a locked phone to a computer. No data can be accessed until it's unlocked.

OK, I thought it was doing it with the system lock too, but now I see it's just the Go Locker app. I guess I'm going back to the ugly system lock for now. I've never had this problem with go locker before, but there's usually a setting to disable media sharing within the phone settings on my Motorola phones. This doesn't have any, so it's either stock or unsecure. Thanks for responding. This phone is just a temporary anyways. I am going to get the new Moto X soon hopefully.

Sounds like the third-party locking app, GO Locker, doesn't work properly with 5.1 Lollipop, and it's not securing data from computer USB access when it's locked.

We've not recommended GO products for a while now on AF. really because of possible ad spam and data mining you to servers in China. Because that's how GO(Guangzhou Jiubang Digital Tech, Ltd.) monetizes their "free" apps AFAIK, see also Cheetah Mobile and Qihoo 360.
