How do I disable stock messsaging app Epic Touch 4g Sprint Version

Hi everyone! I recently downloaded GoSMSPro, with hopes of using that as my messaging app. Even with the box checked, on GoSMSPro, to disable the stock messaging app, and all boxes checked on the stock app, I still get duplicate messages.

Can anyone help out with this issue? I have a stock phone, and do not want to root it.

ps-anyone have good suggestions for apps (your personal favorites). Greatly appreciated.
 
You can't do anything about the message showing in both messaging apps, AFAIK.

What I did was put GOSMS along the bottom (in place of the stock app) and let the stock app live its days in the app drawer, where I don't look anyway.
 
that's an idea I didnt think about! any suggestions for some of your favorite apps? so many apps in the market, just no clue as to what to look for!

One other thought....have you had an issue with having to call a number to access voicemail, as some others have posted, in the comments on the app, with the most recent update? i'm not sure what that is all about.

I haven't updated GOSMS because I hadn't been having issues with the version I was using. I have noticed that I can no longer use the call button in GoSMS to make calls. My phone appears to be dialing but nothing happens otherwise.

Favorite Apps:
Alarm Clock Plus - huge snooze button and optional math problems so you don't sleep snooze

Battery Widget - so I can have my % on my homescreen

Calendar Widget 2 Lite - simply displays the date, day, and month. tapping it launches your calendar

Llama - for automatic sound profile management. I hate having my SMS notification go off while I'm looking at my messages so I have Llama turn the notification volume to zero.

Opera Mini - web browser replacement. Its quirky at times and I'm considering trying Dolphin instead.
 
A text message is to a text messaging application like a word processing document is to a word processing program. You can have multiple word processing programs installed on your computer and they can all see the one letter.

You don't have multiple copies of texts. There's only one, even though you can see it in multiple programs.

When you delete the text in one app, go look for it in the other. You won't find it.
