Help How do I disable the frequent caller list?

jaycanwk

Lurker
Every time I call someone, or someone call me they automatically get added to my frequent caller list. How do I disable this function? I'm on a Nexus 6p.

Thanks

I'm using exDialer and I have never had that happen.
It has an option to group all calls from one contact into one line, with the number of times they have called you, but I hate that.... not interested..... I prefer the flat file approach

First thought...Don't give your phone to your significant other....problem solved ;-)

Second thought, you're right. I can see recently called numbers in the other tab, why do I need frequent contacts sprinkled through my favorites! It's less organized. Case in point, I have a Google voice number that I rarely answer and never call...I just monitor the voicemails that arrive at that number (through Google voice app). But Google decided that this number I never call should be first in my favorites tab. Grrr.

Brute force: settings / clear recents would probably temporarily fix it, but may have unwanted consequences.

ok, I took another look at it (the google phone app on my nexus 6) and I no longer see it as a problem (for me anyway).

The favorites tab (with a star on top) lists your favorites (starred items) first and THEN your frequently called items second (AFTER your favorites).
  • If you don't want to see any frequent called items, just add enough favored/starred items to force the frequently called items down below the bottom of screen (then you'd have to scroll down to see them).
  • If a frequent called item shows up amongst your favorited items, then it is also favorited (it will show a star). Click on the three dots, then click on the star to toggle it between favorite (full star) and unfavorite (empty star). So that was the case with my Google Voice number... I had it favorited. Unfavoriting moved it off my visible screen below my favorites.
  • And by the way don't press the pencil/edit button... the favorites star is strangely only accessible before you press the pencil/edit button.

So what do you think op? Is there anything wrong with having frequent callers listed way down at the bottom below favorites (where you won't even see them unless you scroll down) ?
