How do I find which app is clucking like a chicken?

I received a call, but by the time I got my DROID 4 out, it was gone. I put the DROID back in my pocket. A few minutes later it started clucking like a chicken. How do I find out which app is playing that sound?
Usually when i miss a message a window pops up informing me of a missed call, but that didn't happen. I think that while I was fumbling the DROID out of my pocket I must have touched some part of the screen that disabled something.

Do you think that my question is specific to the DROID 4? I would think it has something to do with an app that I installed.

The approach that you take for determining an errant app varies from phone to phone. You are not running Jelly Bean and do not have Safe Mode that allows you to disable all apps you added without uninstalling them.

In your case first determine in Settings | Sound | Default notification sound that you don't have that sound selected.

If the sound is listed as one of the possible sounds for notifications then perhaps you can find it and delete it (then power off/power on to refresh the list).

Worst case is that you uninstall apps until the problem stops.

I think that the squawked chicken is associated with new voice mail. I got a call from an blocked phone number, which I refused to accept. A few moments later the phone squawked. I tried the main sound settings menu and couldn't find a way to set the sound for new voice mail. I also opened the app and couldn't see any way to set sound. Where is it hiding?
