Help How do I get an old app to run to run on new Android versions

I have an App called MM Tracker that I use for my hill walking. It won't run on anything higher than Android 4.12. and there is no support for the App anymore.
Is there anyway around this problem by using an emulator or something?

You could try using an emulator on your computer to emulate Android 4.1.2 or an earlier version and then downloading the application to your computer, but this will most likely not be appropriate as you are looking to use a tracker.

What version of Android are you trying to run MM Tracker on? Have you tried manually installing MM Tracker through an APK file? You can download an APK file to try out at: /**MOD REDACTED LINK**/

You can also try to find an alternative application that's similar to MM Tracker, but that's compatible with more recent versions of Android. RunKeeper seems quite similar (http://runkeeper.com/). I have enough difficulty getting myself to the top of a hill, without having a PC in my rucksack
I've tried it on 4.3, 4.4.4 and 5.0.1
It's an APK file I have.
It runs a specific type of map, Ordnance Survey UK. There is an alternative called Alpine Quest, but I don't like too much.

We need to be careful about linking to applications outside of the Play Store or the developer's website. A lot of external APK hosts are overflowing with pirated apps (which is illegal as well as against Our Rules) and/or malware (which is a bad thing).

SOLVED!!! I have just found on xda-developers that someone has taken over from the original developer and has been patching MM Tracker to run on later Android versions.
