How do I get MP3 player on lockscreen?

The first time I used the generic MP3 player to go for a run, the "next" and "back" song buttons appeared on my lockscreen. Now it isn't there anymore so I have to actually unlock the screen and go into the player to switch songs. How do I get these buttons back?

I tried using the standard player and standard widget on a mytouch and neither added anything to the lock screen.

If you have the widget and don't use the pattern lock, you can press menu twice and then the next arrow >>| and pause.

Also the volume buttons on the phone control the media volume even when the lock screen is off.

Haven't seen any lock screen player controls though. It might be nice to have an app to have the buttons with a triple press actually be like media player buttons.

If you use Lock 2.0 you can have your music controls on the lock screen.

Yes but you have to buy the full version to get the music controls.

After talking with a dev I work with for Android apps, Lock 2.0 and and other lock screen features are highly suspect. The reason is the sensitive nature of the functionality at the locked phone level. Likely this app is using a workaround that might disappear at a future date.
