Help How do I get my bookmarks onto my tablet?

How do I get my IE/FF/Chrome bookmarks folder off of my desktop onto my Galaxy 10.1? Apple makes it stupid easy, yet there's no way that we can tell to do this on the Galaxy.

Not sure if this will work for you, however, I use an app called Xmarks to sync my bookmarks from my desktop browsers to my Android phone & tablet. After I synced everything, I created a shortcut on both devices which point to the xmarks website which shows all of my bookmarks. The app is available for IE, FF, Chrome, & Android. Hope this helps.

PS: It's free!!!!!!

In Chrome's settings there is an option like Synchronize my bookmarks .. with this you can sync bookmarks with your google account. In browser from your tablet check for Settings -> Sync with Google Chrome.
I you wanna clean broken bookmarks use Bookmark Sentry.

So if I use Firefox at home, the easiest way for me to get all my (200+) bookmarks is as follows:

1. Install the Chrome browser and import bookmarks from Firefox;

2. Select 'Sync with Chrome' on the stock browser on the Galaxy tab in settings.

Would that work? How does the Chrome browser on the PC upload bookmarks to Google so that my Galaxy tab can retrieve them?

Rumbataz- when you choose the option to sync your bookmarks with your google account on your pc it will prompt you to sign in to your account. If you're not already signed in that is. A copy of your bookmarks then go up into the cloud which your other devices have access to as well.

Thanks 5280man, I got it all sorted in the end. However, I had to clear the Google (server) storage and resync to get the bookmarks down to my Tab. Apparently there's a bug with how the boommarks are stored so I stopped synching on my Google Dashboard and waited 10 minutes and then resynced.

This is something I've been wondering over the last few days. I'd considered the solution you've found, but it has two disadvantages:

1) It involves installing Chrome and I don't want to have to install another browser, just to get my bookmarks onto the SGT.
2) Changes made to your bookmarks in Firefox aren't synchronised with your Chrome Bookmarks.

Chrome Bookmarks are stored in Google Docs, so there must be better solutions out there. I haven't found an ideal solution yet.

My first thought was a Chrome Bookmarks add-on for Firefox, so that I can only use Chrome Bookmarks. I've tried searching for one, but can't find one.

Using Google Bookmarks is another option. Google Bookmarks add-ons are available for Firefox (which will import your Firefox bookmarks into Google Bookmarks) and there are Android Apps available that work with Google Bookmarks. The downside to this solution is that the apps don't work as well as the native Chrome Bookmarks sync seems to.

Another option is to use Firefox on your SGT. All bookmarks can be automatically synchronised through Firefox's servers between all copies of Firefox. This involves installing a second browser on your SGT, which I don't really want to do.

The final option I came up with was using something to synchronise my bookmarks. As mentioned above, Xmarks is one option (although I think you need the Premium version for the Android app, which I think incurs an annual charge), but it doesn't synchronise to Chrome Bookmarks, so doesn't use the native Chrome Bookmarks sync on the SGT.

I'm currently considering using Transmute (as recommend on How to sync bookmarks between Firefox, Chrome and Safari - Google Chrome Fans). The Plus version costs $19.95, but it's a one-off fee, not an annual fee. Unfortunately, I think it still needs Chrome to be installed to synchronise with Chrome Bookmarks, but I'm not sure.

The next procedure was done on a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
It copies the bookmarks from Chrome browser to your account in Google,
and then from your account to the tablet.

PC
-----
1. Create a GOOGLE account (if you don't have one already).
2. Open the CHROME browser.
3. Open the 'Costomize and control google chrome>settings'.
4. Now 'Sign in>Advanced Sync setting'.
5. Check at least 'Bookmarks' and then press 'OK'.

Tablet
---------
1. Open 'Setting'.
2. Go to 'Accounts'.
3. Use the 'Add account' for adding your account in Google (if you did not add it already).
4. In the 'Accounts' press 'google' and then 'Sync all'.

A good luck !

I have found that I can edit my bookmarks on my Tablet/phone so that they are in my Google account instead of the "local" account on my Android devices. When I do that they are visible on all my Android devices & any new ones I use on the same Google account. It does not help in terms of making them available on my pc but does help with the transitions to new devices.
