How do I get my led light to work?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Y, it says that the notification light will turn on when i receive something, but it never does.

You should be able to activate the LED by going into Settings ---> Display ---> LED indicator . This will allow you to select options for led.

If this does not help please repost your question additional information and that you have already tried this approach.
