How Do I Get Rid Of Google Calender Images

(3/25/2019) I just tried to put an event into the google calendar app on my phone and I got hit by all these images.

WTF . Just terrible. I can't get to what I want as fast as before. I have to scroll a lot more to get to where I want to be.

Am I the only one to get hit by this on 3/25/2019?
Can I get rid of them?
If not, can anyone recommend a simple calendar app? Something that gives me a monthly view, lets me just tap on a day, enter a date, time, place and ID?
