How do i get separate notifications

Chief Joe

Lurker
I am trying to find a way to get separate notification tones. I would like one for emails a different one for text excetera. I already learned that I have to move the audio files for notifications to different folders but I can't figure out how to set it up right at two or more different notification tones, allowing for a different tone based on the type of notification.

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS Chief Joe !
Yes,as pool_shark noted, you can custom tailor most notification tones within the individual application settings.
The email one is a great example & I'm glad you mentioned it,as it's a bit hidden & quite frankly, this could be improved upon:

Go to your stock email app & tap MORE > SETTINGS > NOTIFICATIONS > & tap on the account you wish to change the notification sound.
Now,you should see Notification Sound, tap & select the desired notification sound.

Most other apps aren't this convoluted in choosing a custom notification tone & should be a bit more straightforward, however, most apps updated to reflect the latest "Material Design" cues from Google should have a similar start point, located in the upper R/H corner of the application.

Again,WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS!
