to remember on its own memory the Google contacts info? I want to be able to see all my contacts when abroad and without using data roaming.

Not sure what version of Galaxy S you have if it is the vibrant for T-Mobile you can export them to your sd card that should do it for you.

Contacts>Menu>More>Import/Export>Export to SD card

your phone already sees the contacts on its own memory....... it doesnt use data unless its syncing...... just disable syncing on the phone when you go abroad and you wont have a problem

...and if you doubt that you can test for yourself: enable airplane mode and check your contacts.
