Help How do I keep my apps from closing when I exit to do something else?

Hi all, newbie here. I like to play games a lot and when I multitask and exit (but not close) the app on my Droid Razr Maxx HD, it always goes back to the start screen when I go back to the game. How do I get it to stop doing that?

For clarification: exiting as in pressing the menu button, or multitask button, not actually force closing the app.

Thanks!

You know, I never use that. Like, I've opened it on accident more times than on purpose.

For me I just don't think to because my most 8 used apps are right on my home screen, the next 8 most are one glide to the right, and everything else is in alphabetical order on an old school vertically scrolling drawer (with apps I never use hidden [Apex]).

So for me if it's something on my homescreen, one touch is faster than two. If it's on a second screen, at best it's an equal number of touches - but I know exactly where the app is on the screen unlike the most recently used scroll thing.

There might be some argument if I happen to open my drawer, but a glide up opens my drawer so even that's going to be debatable.

The most recently used button is theoretically an interesting idea, but I've never developed a habit of using it. I can't speak for others, but as for myself there you go.
