Help How do I keep the OS from setting default apps?

I just upgraded to a Samsung Note 5, and while most all is well, I can no longer choose to NOT set a default app when more than one can be used to complete an action.

That is, the default behavior I want is for the OS to ask me each and every time which app to use, UNLESS I explicitly set a default. It used to work that way with the other Android phones I've had (Thunderbolt, S3). Is this something Samsung has done or a new "standard" with Lollipop?

Short of clearing the default each and every time I select which one to use, is there an OS setting or app that can restore the old behavior for me?

Rooting is not currently an option.
Thanks in advance.

You've got company.
Many of us are shaking our heads as to WTF Samsung was thinking w/this "default" change.
AFAIK,there's not even a root method available, nor should we be forced to seek such to fix something that is clearly broken.
Best you can do is write Samsung a nasty-gram & voice your displeasure.

My Notwe does this occasionally it used to do it whenever I tried to open web pages with Chrome but that stopped it only does it occasionally now its strange.

I think you misread my point. I *WANT* it to ask me which app to use, but it only asks the first time and then makes my choice the default whether I want it to or not.

Ohhh sorry my bad habit of not reading the original post bites me in the butt again.I'll keep my eyes open to see if I can find any info on it.
