How do I logout of Google using Galaxy s 4. (Verizon Wireless)

go to settings > accounts there you should s your google account listed and you should then be able to remove it

I know that you can remove your Google account by going into settings and then accounts, but I am not sure there is a way to log out of your Google account.
I have never tried to log out of my Google account since to do so would remove access to my downloads/contacts/favorites etc, since I would no longer be able to sync my accounts with the phone. I hope this helps.
