Here is a good converter program (free).
Videora - Free Video Converter
Not sure what videos you are trying to put on there, but if you are trying to take a DVD and put it on your phone check out the DVD to ipod at this link (eventhough it talks about the ipod the process of ripping the content from a DVD is the exact same for any other device)

oh, and you do know how to mount your phone right? Just plug it into your computers USB, clcik mount on your phone, then you can simply drag and drop that newly converted video onto your SD card....I'm assuming you knew that part but in case you didn't...well now you do.

there the only videos i've had any luck getting to work on my eris. follow me on twitter at takeyouriphone . and much respect due to those who made it possible for me to put android 2.1 on my eris, keep up the good job guys and dont pay attention to the haters.
Hey! I just stumbled upon this guide on how to watch DVD movies on Android phone including Droid you have mentioned. I think you could give it a shot. Hope that helps.
