How do I pretend to be an Apple?

I moved to the Droid platform from Apple, and I have some machines that I used to feed media to from my Apple devices. My stereo (Pioneer), car music and such all have USB input interface to receive media...but they expect an iPod, and they reject the Droid connection.

Is there an app to emulate the Apple? Or an adapter cable?

Again this is for USB not for headphone jack.

Thanks!

Hey notthesameguy, welcome to the forums! I moved your post to the applications section as it will probably get some better hits here.

Welcome to the Android Forums.

What model number is the Pioneer Stereo and what car do you have? My car's usb input streams media from my Nexus One just fine, although I find it easier to play media via bluetooth. That way the phone never leaves my pocket.

Can you explain in more detail when you say it expects an iPod and rejects your Android phone?

An auxiliary input jack should be able to use any device as input. I have the HTC Incredible and I use my car aux all the time.

The more information you can give us, the more easily we can help you.

You don't. The iPod interface is for iPods.

Some head units can mount your SD card if they support mass storage devices on their USB ports. Make sure you refer to your head unit's documentation for details. Some expect the media files to be in a certain folder structure and to use a specific naming convention. It really all depends on the specific head unit. My Alpine 9886, for example, has both USB and a dedicated iPod interface. The latter will only work with iPods.

So, you "may" be able to use the USb input as above. Alternatively, for a wired connection, use the aux in port on the stereo (as I do from my Desire HD). Or get a head unit that supports the A2DP bluetooth profile so you can stream music directly to it plus get the 'hands free' at the same time.

I also have a pioneer player in my truck, and know what you're talking about. You all are correct, there is an aux input that works just fine, but you still have to control the music from the phone in that case. The player supports a USB ipod connection that lets you control the music from the head until itself. I believe this is what the OP is trying to accomplish.

As already stated above though it's an i-pod connection not a general USB connection and they are Apple specific :(
