Help How do I root my phone?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro that I would like to root. How can I do this without bricking my phone? Also once my phone is rooted how can I remove the AT&T apps?

Phone OS: Android 4.1.2 Jellybean

You'll find some useful information on rooting the Rugby Pro here, including a link to a rooting guide.

Once rooted you may be able to uninstall the apps in the usual way (I've not used this phone, which is why I'm saying "may"). Otherwise you can uninstall them using Titanium Backup. Do make sure that nothing critical depends on them - if in doubt, try disabling (or "freezing" them using Titanium) before uninstalling, so that you can easily undo this if it causes problems.

In fact I'd make one addition to the rooting instructions above: once you have ClockworkMod recovery installed, use it to take a backup of your phone before installing the file which roots the phone. That way if there is any problem you can just restore the backup. I'd personally recommend making a backup using recovery before making any changes to system software, including removing the bloatware that you want rid of, simply because it's the easiest way to fix things if anything goes wrong.

Ok I followed the guide. When I get into booting into Clockwork Recovery to install the zip file (cwmr_root.zip file) i get a "E:signature verification failed" error message. Did I miss something?

Or you can try some One-Click Root tool such as iRoot or Kingo firstly which would be much easier to handle with. If fails, try something else like Hadron.

Sorry for the late reply. My computer had viruses that I had to get rid of and I was on vacation. So I tried Kingo Root. No success. I made sure I had USB debugging enabled before I started the program. It tried to connect but all i got was a blank screen. Will give Hadron a try
