How do I run just HelixLauncher not both HL and Home?

I'm running HelixLauncher and I want it to be my only Home running. I have the stock home running along side it. I believe it's slowing my phone down all the time. I tried killing it with task killer, but it keeps on showing up. How do I run just Helixlauncher, instead of HL and Home? Thanks and sorry if this was posted before. I couldn't find the thread.

How do you know it is running in the background? The stock Home I mean?

Root your device, then adb push HelixLauncher as Launcher2.apk to your /system/app.
