Help How do I send and receive photos in a text message?

i have a Samsung Galaxy Discover
SGH-S730M. For the life of me I can't send or receive photos in a text message. Can anybody help me? I've tried using the Share function but all I get is a notification that it is sending. The same basic thing happens when somebody tries to send me a picture in a text. It says downloading and it just keeps doing this forever.

All help would be greatly appreciated. I had an old Nokia and picture sending was effortless.

Thanks in advance

I'm actually not using a data plan. I know this sounds weird but I only use my phone as a phone and for texting. I've had the same carrier for years. I used to use a Nokia 6760 slide phone and to send and receive pictures in a text was dead simple. I think my problem might be something to do with my phone since I haven't changed anything at all with my plan. I hope I don't have to change my plan to accommodate my phone. The package that I share with my wife is so cheap, it's almost like its free! I would just change hones before ID change my plan.

And does your carrier use a separate APN for MMS? If so, check your Access Point Names settings (Settings > Mobile data).
Hi there. When I look at the Access point Names, nothing comes up at all. Just a blank screen. Is this how it should be?

Blank doesn't sound right to me, but I have never owned a carrier-locked phone so don't know what would be normal with those. I'd have thought you could see the settings even if you couldn't edit them.

Just to check: mobile data works?

Well, I don't use data so I have no idea.i guess I can check with my home wifi and see but I don't see how that relates to texting. Glad you're helping! We'll figure this out one way or another!

I honestly don't think you'll be able to send or receive pictures messages unless you have data. Some messaging apps will let you use WiFi but some kind of data is required

And depending on what version of android your using you may not be able to change the APN settings anyways

This is my first android device and I'm not sure what version of Android I'm using. I know I can find that out though. I've tried various ways if sending a picture text wise to my wife's phone, just as a test, but even though it says it is sending and in small upper case letters in the corner I can see MMS, nothing is actually happening. I've had this phone for about have a year now. I got it used from a friend who got a new iPhone. My old Nokia was dying. She used the same carrier so it was easy to just change the sim chip and I was up and running. She told me she never had any problems texting pictures before. I think I'm just going to have to take te phone to my carrier's store and see if they can fix the problem for me.

It's frustrating. You'd think that I a house with 4 computers, 3 cell phones and an iPad, we'd be abLe to figure this little problem out. Especially since my wife was an IT tech at our carriers compny several years ago.

Thanks again,
