How do I set Wi Fi band in Android 8 Oreo

PSAS786

I have been trying to set my HTC 10 to 2.4ghz band to resolve problem with music streamer but I cannot find how to do it on Android 8.
Web searches have suggested go to settings and then advanced wi fi settings. I can do it fine on Android 5.0 (on my trusty HTC One) but cannot see it on 8.
Anyone know?

I believe the option to select the WiFi band has been removed with Android 8. I certainly don't have the option on my HTC10, but the device will still connect to either 2.4Ghz or 5.0Ghz in the same way as previous versions would if set to Auto. To force connect an HTC10 to a 2.4 GHz band you need to have the appropriate SSID.

Thanks tommo47. Ah so I have google wi fi which automatically uses 2.4/5 according to what is 'best' and an HTC 10 which does the same. I might not be able to choose.

That may well be the case. I have no experience of Google WiFi but all dual band hubs/routers I have used allow allocation of different SSIDs to each band.
