Help How do I take pictures with my droid maxx

I bought an android maxx a few days ago, and I don't understand ANYTHING about taking a picture. I have Googled, but not found what I'm looking for. Please help me!

Welcome to Android Forums.

Load the Camera app.
Tap the screen to take a picture.
Swipe in from the left for a menu of all the configuration items.

Also, I believe that this behavior is the default: if you hold the phone in one hand and then twist it back and forth two times, as if you were opening a doorknob twice, it will launch the camera app, even if the display is turned off.

To go a step further, if you shake it 3-4 times, it will launch the camera app in selfie mode. Likewise, if the camera app is already up, shaking it twice will toggle between the front and rear cameras

The latter works for me, but not the former. If the camera app is not open, twisting the phone more than twice simply opens the camera app with the rear facing camera. I cannot get it to launch to the front facing cam.

It works pretty reliably on mine, but then again my phone has been acting kind of buggy lately so it could be a bug manifesting in a convenient way

I've taken some awesome pictures with this phone too. Here's some...

This one is good. Alabama Hills, in Lone Pine CA. You may recognize this road as "Afghanistan" from the beginning of Iron Man... where he's shot and captured.
