how do i turn om my phone

i let the battery die as i was instructed to do so the first charge would be better. now the phone will not turn on. how do i turn on the power?
 
Plug your phone into the charger, ensure the charging icon appears on the phone. Wait about 4 hours. Press and hold the power button until your boot screen appears. Wait about a minute and you should be ready to go! Welcome to AF!
