How do I use my own sounds as ringtones in KitKat?

Seems like a silly question, but since I started using KitKat, I have been looking for a way to use my own sounds as ringtones, but have thus far come up empty. I used to be able to store it in a folder on my SD card (/sdcard/Android or /sdcard/Media I believe) and it show up on Android's lists, or could use Handcent's picker to pick my media file. What's the procedure now?

Use the folders below and they'll show up in the Sound menus. I don't remember if they have to be on the internal (fake SD) memory or if being on the SD card works, but I copy them to the internal anyway.
