How do I wipe my data/passwords/etc. from my One X?

My One X suddenly decided that sim cards don't work. Fortunately, I have the AT&T insurance. They sent me an HTC One. Now I need to send them back the broken One X. How can I make sure my passwords, etc. are gone before I return it?

Thanks

According to HTC:

Note: A factory reset may not permanently erase all data from your phone, including personal information.

I like the reset idea, but I'd like some way to make sure the passwords, etc. are not retrieveable.

It's just a disclaimer in case it doesn't actually work or you sell your phone on and it somehow retains some data.

If you want to be doubly sure, you can run an RUU which wipes everything (even the OS itself) and rewrites it too.

What is an RUU? Does it physically write over the entire "SD" card and other space?

RUU stands for ROM Upgrade Utility. It's a windows program that basically wipes the handset clean and installs everything from scratch.

I can't remember if it wipes the part of the memory classed as the SD Card, but I'm relatively sure it does.

No it doesn't wipe the sd card part of the memory, as i found out when i used an RUU. there is an option in the settings to format that part of the memory though.
