How do the pros use Google voice?

Here is another reason to use Google Voice:

Using this at my home I get Google voice through my home phones. The service costs nothing after paying for the Obi. I have been doing it for a couple of years without any problems.

It depends. There are a couple apps that support native Google voice messages, but not many. GrooveIP is one of them, which you might use for voip calls. Another option is that if you run a custom rom based on cyanogenmod, they have developed a nifty little add on that routes all Google voice texts through the stock messaging app.

Thanks for this response. When you say I'd receive the texts through Google voice so you mean the the Google voice app? Or any SMS app on Android?

It means through the Google Voice app, but you can also just go to https://www.google.com/voice on your computer's web browser, and text from there.

If you are willing to install the latest Cyanogenmod (10.2) ROM they have a feature called Voice+ which allows you to use any SMS client with Google Voice.
