after using phone for a day i hit the home screen and hold... this brings up the running apps. alot after a day of use which i assume slows down the phone?
now how can we turn off apps without turning off the phone?

Can't help with your query I'm afraid but I just learnt something new as I didn't realise you could do that.
I thought that the memory handled itself and that every time you opened up a new application it cleared the last one on the list? but I can understand your point that if there are say 6 applications "Loaded" into the memory then latency could creep in, but I must admit I haven't noticed that yet
Yup, it's your recently used apps. You can get a thread watcher app to see what's running. Generally, most apps are really well behaved. If they're not on the screen, they're not running.
